Marshall County, Kansas

Explore Pony Express Country!

A lot was happening in Marshall County 150 years ago -- the Pony Express carried the mail, and thousands of emigrants on their way west traveled through this area on the Oregon Trail. The Big Blue was a major river crossing. In times of high water Frank Marshall's rope ferry at the future site of Marysville was a godsend.

Marshall County is still a crossroads, on U. S. 36 and 77, and getting there is a lot easier than it used to be.
